I am sorry to say that there are a LOT of cattle haulers around today that are ruining fellow haulers and will eventually ruin theirselves. I don't believe you can work for fuel and a hambuger and stay in business any length of time. They have ruined the cattle hauling business and caused the shippers to see ever load as a backhaul. I called about a load yesterday and the shipper asked me right up front if i would have to dead head to haul it. When I said yes, he said that it wouldn't pay me enough to do that. He went on to say that he would be shipping from the Texas border quite a bit soon and that the rate would require it to be a backhaul. I HATE THAT WORD. IT HAS DESTROYED THE CATTLE HAULING INDUSTRY. I loaded last week in Nevada and came to Texas close to where I live. Of course the load was heavy as usual and I had to go two hundred miles out of the way to do it. Will I get paid for that? DUH!!!!!! So every few loads they ship, and most do it, they gain a free load and that at backhaul rates as they call it. I was thinking of doing something else because of all this worry and for no pay. I told the shipper to call me back when he knew the rate, and guess what? He didn't even have the common courtesy to even do that because he is so sorry and cheap. So thanks to all you who are screwing those of us who won't bow down to low rates I am selling my really good livestock trailer and leasing on to a company that I can run down any highway and not have to duck and dodge. Yau'll enjoy all your cheap rates and when all your trucks come due a overhaul you too will be finished. JUST SAYIN | REPLY REPLY WITH QUOTE |

Let them all try to replace a set of tires. Wait till they can't even keep up with fuel and that nice truck will be in truck paper. I do not feel sorry for them in the least. |

WITH FUEL AT @4.53 HEAR TODAY THERE IS NO WAY ANY ONE CAN MAKE MONEY RUNNING FOR $3.75 TO $4.10 THAT I HAVE SEEN POSTED. WHEN ONLY A FEW YEARS AGO THE RATE WAS $.50 OVER THE COST OF FUEL THAT WOULD PUT THE RATE AT 5.03 |

I agree, but as usual there are alot of them TRYING,and this is why you see so many late model, low milaged trucks with maypop tires on the truck paper for sale! One day I hope they get the message you can't truck for less than the cost of fuel per gallon, and make it for very long. Too those of you trying to keep the rates up I applaud you as for the rest I guarantee you will LOOSE your truck eventually and if you do not lose it because you think its paid for,you have forgotten what it cost to keep one UP,so KEEP on running them CHEAP LOADS ( back hauls ) and you will eventually be in the POOR house. |

YOu are so right John, it makes me sick when I see cattle hauling companies put loads on the load board for 3.50 to 3.75, what the heck, they know the cost. I just wonder what they bid it for. Was it 3.50 or was it 4.20 and they are offering it for only 3.50? We are waiting to be paid from two campanies that called us and we hauled loads from them. No more. I am tired of being lied to by these companies. I was told to pick up the load on a certain day, I was there in advance to show my interest in the producer. Why can't I get a check when I unload the cattle? From now on the cattle will not be unloaded till the payment clears my bank. It is almost like our industry is following the goverment, huh, just keep calling for trucks with no way to pay. I have been in ranching all my life, never before have cattle been so high. Why is it so hard to get paid? Are there more "Eastern" companies out there buying cattle and selling them several times? I venture to say there are many more. THIS IS WHY they can't pay on time. |
