backhaul rates make no sense. If i live on the east coast and take a backhaul rate to go east and you live west and take that rate to go west. ahow we ever gonna get a "forthhaul" rate. Hold out for the rate that is reasonable. I'm haulin other stuff cause cant find cattle loads but will not haul half price. | REPLY REPLY WITH QUOTE |

There's another BACKHAUL posted today going east. I was not aware our trucks run for half price because the phrase BACKHAUL is attached to it! If we stop taking these loads, the rate will come up but there's always someone who doesn't have the balls to bounce and will take that load. Everybody constantly complains about this topic in the open, but secretly takes those loads anyway. We as an industry do it to ourselves and it'll never stop until we stop accepting cheap freight Cheap freight, sounds like the dry van industry. |

It only takes a few to ruin it for all.. I could name names, but I will do this instead.. Fountain Run Ky a year ago.. Going to Bovina TX.. I'm loading with trucks, with sawdust on the floor and a stench that makes my eyes water thinking about it. Same loads goin to the same place.... They were doin it for 93 cents less and thought they were doin GREAT!!! Those types are the main reason the rates are so beat down. And then there are the piss poor, cheapskate buyers that will load anybody with a heartbeat that need to be weeded out as well.. |

Well I just call my insurance agent and let em know its a back haul rate and they cut my rate in half for that load and then I call my fuel company and they reimburse me for half the fuel cost. But then of course if something happens and you wreck and lose a load of cattle, on a backhaul, you only are liable for half the load! Also on a backhaul you can just show up whenever you want because its not a big deal if you pull over and sleep when your dead tired...its backhaul and the order buyers understand that a half ass rate pays for a half ass job! LMAO!!! Whatever. However, if there weren't so many dumbshit drivers that screw up half the time and actually understood how to run a business we may have a leg to stand on and be able to demand higher rates for premium service. | REPLY REPLY WITH QUOTE |
