Just out of curiosity I was wondering why people are still willing to work for fuel. I have been looking on the load board and it amazes me that with fuel upwards of $3.50-$3.75 we are still seeing rates for less than $3 and they are being booked? Do you not realize that if these loads wouldnt get hauled the rates would go up. I also have noticed who it is that continues to post these cheap loads. Ie...We had a dairy load from New Mexico to Indiana about a month ago and one of the cheap companies from Iowa cut the rate 30 cents a mile to take it. What is wrong with our industry. We are cattle haulers...this is not the same industry I entered 15 years ago. It saddens me that there are those who put so little value in their work. LET'EM HAVE IT!!!! They will go broke sooner or later. While they are on there back haul rate, those of us that dont work for that will clean up the full rate loads. Just last week for example I averaged 2.19 per running mile. |
