I agree totally. If you’ve bought any equipment, new or used, the valuation of that equipment is minimum 35 to 40 percent higher than it was 2 years ago. A newer truck and trailer will require another 70k in principle payments plus interest to pay off. Tires are almost double what they were 2 years ago. Driver wages are up 25 percent. Insurance, parts, fuel, additives, permits all higher and they don’t care. I get taking a little off with the fuel fluctuations, but there is not $1.50 per mile to give away in a base rate. I also understand the value of being somewhere and being able to pick another load up with minimal bounce and conceding a little on a rate. Look at what’s happening to the dry freight market with rates in the mid twos….. which is equivalent to 4.00 or 5 freight for cattle haulers. They are dropping like flies. My thing is these guys that are coming from the east out to the midwest to deliver. They are taking loads back to FPL in Augusta Georgia for 3.00 a mile or less and the ones going to Florida are going back to center hill for 2100 to 2800. If you guys would let that shot stand in the sale barn for a week or 2 and make them pay full rate you would make so much more money. If they don't have they at the plant they can't kill them. If your going to Gaffney SC or those other 2 plants your selling yourself short. Make them pay you without the trucks they don't have shit. They wanted me to haul from joplin to Augusta for 3100 I said I would bounce south before I did that. | REPLY REPLY WITH QUOTE |
