Just wondering, is it better to pull a trailer for yourself or pulling someone else's trailer. The pro's and con's of that if anyone has delt with it. If you have a little insight please. kinda on the fence wondering how that works. REPLY REPLY WITH QUOTE

Pull your own, the trailer cost per mile is very small. I see a lot of guys pulling trailers from 15 to as much as 28%. It ends up to a lot of money a year, you run hard at even 15% can be $30,000.00 and up easy in rent. Just do the math and see what works for you. A good hand pulling a new trailer can pay for one in about two years, at 15%. Now this is what I added up a few years ago, At the rates today it would be more if they are taken the % off  the gross now. At 3.20 15% is .48 a mile on a 400 mile haul it is 192.00. it adds up fast for the trailer.

do you have your own loads? If you do, pull your own. If u dont you will need help to get loads and would benifit to pull for somebody. In my opinion if you dont already know somebody that could give you loads its a hard thing to break into. Just my opinion. REPLY REPLY WITH QUOTE

Not hauling any loads on here, that's for sure. I tell them what I need and they pay or I stay home. Stand up for yourself and set your own rates and not what they want to pay you. If you own the truck and let them tell you what you are going to get paid you just as well become an employee.
