We were just talking about this in the office yesterday. There are some companies with lots of loads but take 6 weeks to pay. It would be nice to know this up front. REPLY REPLY WITH QUOTE

The only way we can make these shippers pay in a reasonable time and to do right by what they say is to expose their name on this forum. The rating system can be good but it also can doctored. When you haul a load from this board for a shipper we all know who has the load but no one knows if the shippers is good or bad. Let's look out for each other and stop letting these shippers do what they want to us without any recourse. We pay for this service so use this forum to your advantage. REPLY REPLY WITH QUOTE

The shipper can only pay as fast as he gets paid. And as fast as you get your statements to him. So should all shippers go to paying out of their pockets before they get paid? What about the shippers that take double dispatch because they got the load from another company. Nothings being said about those practices. Also if you start "naming" names whose to say who's telling the truth or who is spreading malicious lies just to get another companies business. There is alot of back stabbing and trying to get other peoples customers right now because of the slow period. Cutting rates to just get a load seems to be the trend right now. That will hurt the people doing it in the long run when it gets busy again because everyone will remember how they did business. REPLY REPLY WITH QUOTE

I'm sure you all are paying attention to the news lately, money is tight every where. These banks are not as loose with the money and its getting harder for the producers, feeders, buyers and packers to get the capital to keep going. With some of my customers it seems like it is taking about a week longer to get paid. and if I help another trucker, it's even longer because it's one more hand that the money has to go through. I don't think that the slow pay is malicious, it's just a predicament of whats happening around the world. And I'm not going to start a bad relationship with my customers when I know I will get paid. I just have to wait a week longer. We have had talks with them and we all understand whats going on in this economy. And working together, we will get back on track. When it's slow, it's that much harder on an operation when the cash flow is stretched. And if they say they are not going to pay at all, then its time to go to the lawyer and file against them. I'm sure glad there is a place like this to vent these frustrations, don't you? REPLY REPLY WITH QUOTE

you talk about money being short for packers etc,it seems that Jbs has plenty of cash by looking at everything they are buying at this time.As far as trusting your customers and letting them ride it makes me want to lease to you just for the safety your chrystal ball provides-----I take it you have never ended up holding the sack on a bancruptcy before REPLY REPLY WITH QUOTE

I agree 100%!!  There should be a place to rate shippers and brokers on how they pay.   I don't know about the rest of you o/o, but I need my pay to keep in business.   I know that there would  be some slow pay brokers and shippers that I would  leave some bad rates on!!   I'm sure all of you try to cover your own butts, as well as I do.  I have it in bold letters on my statements, that CLEARLY state.......DUE UPON RECEIPT OF STATEMENT.  10% CHARGE AFTER 30 DAYS.      Still there are guys that take their sweet time about paying!!  They just try to use your money just as long as they can!!  My fuel tanks don't get filled on promises!!!

We all know that the shippers wait to get paid before paying the trucks, but I am not in business as a loan office, to carry shippers on the money!!!  I have to pay my bills when they are do or I have to pay the conciquences!!!  Nobody carries us on fuel until we get paid, so why should we do that for the shippers?   Business is business, and I think everyone can agree with me on that!
