Someone must have the secret to cutting expense in the trucking industry that I'm missing because loads are being posted for less than 2.50 a mile. Fuel may be down but insurance companies didn't drop their rates,tires are still expensive, parts and repairs, didn't go down and I'm still feeling the shock of fuel prices from when it was 4+ dollars a gallon. How can anyone haul so cheap? Maybe they don't have insurance coverage for livestock. I don't get it. Please enlighten me. | REPLY REPLY WITH QUOTE |

I wish I new the answer between low rates people not paying and low rates high ins premiums I lost my Trk its seems we just pay every body but our selves industry is not what it used to be everybody makes money but us don't have the answer .... |

I'm sure that most companies feel the same way. It's hard to control what happens with the long runs but I can sure keep a eye on the local work. It's the brokers that are controlling the price and if the loads don't get moving they have to raise the rates. My advice is don't take the loads. | REPLY REPLY WITH QUOTE |

The people with the cheap loads don't have to pay to advertise the load. Tired off the greedy folks also.Spread the wealth that's how the world us to run. |

The loads are getting moved by those guys that HAVE to move. By that, I mean the guys that jump in over their heads with newer equipment and HAVE to move to just make their payments. I would think that before long they will go broke and leave the industry. I will not book a load for my trucks at a cut throat rate either. We have other options to do for now, until the rates/industry comes back around....if it does! If not, I will have 5 pots for sale! Infact, if anyone wants to buy a fleet of trucks and trailers, I'd sale now! |

I'm thinking their might be some trucks and trailers for sale. These cheap haulers will be turning that new equipment back to the finance company. I was using $4.10 + pro rate on loaded weight when fuel was &3.75. Since fuel has came down &1.00, I divide this amount by my MPG at 4.75 is $.21. So now my rate is $3.89 + pro rate on loadwd weight. This is an just an example how to figure a rate. Some people must figure since fuel is a $1.00 less the rate can be a $1.00 less. I just put 2 Michelin steer tires on, got alingment done, needed king pins, cost $2225. Lots of people must think the only expense for a truck is fuel. |
