Because we all have our own business to operate. Last week I hauled a $3.00 load but my average was $2.54 for the week. Now somebody can go ahead and attack me for it. God bless America, and capitalism!

U know steady money beats big money anyday and when all u 450 and 5 dollar haulers are either sitting waiting on load for 2 days or deadheading back. All the time. Your killing yourself. The trick is now days. Light loads / good money. The sitting and deadhead will break you quick. Good luck. REPLY REPLY WITH QUOTE

I'll leave my wagon parked before I haul a cut rate load. If they need you bad enough they'll pay. REPLY REPLY WITH QUOTE

Let's say me and Joe blow load and take a load of feeders 250 mile @ $4.00 a mile. we get them kicked off and buyer calls says got a load coming back for ya at $3.00 a mile 30 miles down the road. Joe says no to cheap goes home with his $1000.00. I grab it takes me extra 2 hours and 60 miles I get paid 280 miles home @ 3.00 for extra $840.00. I made $840 on 60 miles. Joe goes to work tomorrow I can take day off if I want REPLY REPLY WITH QUOTE

But Billy Bob that lives where you kicked your load off used to haul that same load for $4.00. Until the buyer found a truck that would haul Billy Bobs primary load as a back haul. Then Billy Bob will do it for $2.75 and ends up at you and Joe Blow's point of origin. He tells your buyer I'll do that $4.00/mile load for $2.75. In that scenario, everybody is hauling at a backhaul. It makes it very difficult to ever get the rate back to $4.00 when there isn't a back haul on the other end. Everybody has their own business model. Some work, some don't. Give the best service you possibly can and your buyer won't look for a back haul. If he does, let him and move on.

We the independent trucker have finally done to the livestock hauling industry, what we done to the rest of the freight industry and its evident right here on the load board ,all you see is BACK HAUL rates for the most part . Congradulations Billy Bob and the rest of you 2.75 & 3.00 per mile haulers , at least years gone by they would take into consideration the differance in the cost of running ie fuel & tax but now with the back haul rates they are quoting the same rates in the west as they quote in the mid west and south west . Oh well its all good cause its a BACK HAUL just my opinion !!!

I laugh when I see loads posted for 3.50 a mile. It'll sit for two days losing weight and running up a feed bill at the barn. Then finally some sucker comes along and what started out as 53000 lb. load is now 51000lb.and still has to travel 600 or 1000 miles. There's a load posted right now for that price 40 miles from me. I'm drinking coffee in my living room sitting in my easy chair. That's where I'll sit till I see 4.10 a mile. Lol! REPLY REPLY WITH QUOTE
