Has anybody else seen a Swift truck pulling a bullwagon? Maybe if we keep crying about rates and cursing the brokers we will see more of them! Don't get me wrong I think we should be paid a fair rate and paid in a reasonable amount of time but Swift trucks and cow wagons shouldn't be seen together. JBS is currently hiring cattle drivers at all JBS plants, the plan is to haul their own cattle and eliminate the need to hiring trucking companies. I spoke with them last week. |

Hey Bob how's it going? maybe you don't care to discuss to much of the plans. But are they going to try to haul EVERYTHING themselves? Just to be clear also I was referring to Swift the freight hauling trucks. I meant no jab at JBS Swift & co. | REPLY REPLY WITH QUOTE |

matt, with the merger what three years ago, the talk was to get all the trucks running all their loads. all truck weights same, rates discussed inhouse from corp a to b ... and so on. all jippos better be looking to get out your black book and make securities with other order buyers to other small plants, ranches, spring fall contracts... you know the game. think rates are tough now, waite until swift puts one thousand new wagons on the road. how many trucks will be looking or begging for loads. how many will flood the market needing to sell wagons. could get interesting now that the big corp just killed the last real owner op lifestyle unmatched to any other. |

The JBS Beef Plants will always have to hire out a large percentage of their cattle hauling. While it might be nice to keep everything in house, it would be a major undertaking to have that done. Our plants do need some local drivers who would be home most nights and our reefer division is looking for long haul and regional drivers, excellent pay, excellent benefits and excellent bonus opportunities. Stay safe! |
