I am looking at buying my own truck after the first of the year, but I am undecided on the route to take. Do I just buy the truck and lease it to an outfit, or do I come with my own authority. I am experienced in hauling livestock and know that you can forget about fuel milage, because I can't seem to get over 5 miles a gallon. I am looking to get a truck with at least a 475hp, 13 speed, and at least a midroof so I can get some sort of fuel milage. I currently drive a 387 Pete with a 18 speed, and I prefer a hood espicially to spread out the weight, because this thing chews up steer tires. Any recommendations on good truck dealers, or any other info you can give me. Would even consider someone to do a purchase program with me. My current boss is only company drivers and is actually looking downsize and my truck is the next to go since it has almost 800,000 on it, so I need to start looking. Or should I just stay a company driver, and who is a good one out the Iowa area that is home weekly.
