Last week i got caught by the Iowa dot on the phone and the officer gave me a written warning he said Ia hasn't passed a law yet saying you can't talk on the phone but he gave me the warning and said other states would reconize it and I would get ticket next time. There is no law that says you cant talk on the phone, but as of Jan 3rd you can not talk on the phone without hands free while driving a commercial vehicle. | REPLY REPLY WITH QUOTE |

its not that they dont have the law. its that they do and its under review by the states. so until the review is over and they make it a law or throw it out they cant write you a ticket. so if it becomes a law next time they can ticket you. | REPLY REPLY WITH QUOTE |

by law, the officer can not warn you about anything that is not a violation of the law. Would be best to get a hands free device. I know we all make fun of the morons that wear their headsets around the truck stop, but they are so much safer while driving. Just be sure to take it off when you get out of the truck. It is a hefty fine to get caught without one. |

well it is a law as of january 5th of this year and its a very big fine it is an inforable law in all 50 states it carrys a fine to the driver of 2500 dollars and 11,000 dollars to the company | REPLY REPLY WITH QUOTE |
