I realize that a large number of my fellow livestock haulers truly belive that we deserve $4.00 per mile just because we haul livestock and should only be loaded half the time. I would love to get $4.00 per mile, only load 30,000 lbs and watch the cattle buyer wash my truck and trailer after he unloaded my load for me!! The problem is, I'm working for him!! I had the choice to haul his load, maybe he asked me for a rate or maybe he told me what he would pay. The point is I just like you, have the choice. The buyers/shippers have a choice too, if they want to hire someone cheaper they are entitled to that. God bless America for the choices we have. WORK FOR THE RIGHT PEOPLE!!!!!

Fuel is a cost no matter what, if your entire existance is based on fuel. I would try to go back to square one and build a foundation in your business that is more solid than the fuel market such as WORKING FOR THE RIGHT PEOPLE!!!!!

I get tired of the complaining on here about rates, you are in control of yourself and cannot control what anyone else does. I always read "If we all get together" Why would I want to "get together" with a bunch of people that are not making enough money and spend their time complaing about it? WORK FOR THE RIGHT PEOPLE!!!!
and you wont have to worry about what anyone else is doing. We would all like the rates to be better and fuel cheaper, bottom line is more than likely fuel will stay high and no matter what someone will always be willing to do things cheaper than you, unless your that guy hauling for nothing already. In that case, you just keep hauling those loads and I will keep hauling mine.

you must be one of those $1.50 heros there talkin about, here you are on here worrin about what everyone else is doin or saying on here. there tryin to get people together on the same page with rates so some of the old mom and pop trucking co. dont go under because of you 100mph stand'em on there head slam against the nose cut throats that could careless about anybody else. sad thing is these mom and pop oufits been around for ever, and there are some recent start up outfits too, may or maynot survive because heros like you keep cuttin rates. things were better before deregulation, you couldnt increase or decrease rates without gettin everyone on board. hopefully they will survive the government beat down, and concrete cut raters. those mom an pop cos, made this country what it is,,???or was?? aND THERE DISAPEARING EVERYDAY and folks like you could care less iits all about you. entitlement you're probably one of those guys who would fall in the hole in the out house, come out smellin like daisys, entitlement you know what you can do with that, right, right, wrong, wrong, they maybe working for the right people, may be working for them for years, decades as far as we know, the arm twisting might be getin to the buyer togo with the cheapy cheapy hauler REPLY REPLY WITH QUOTE

I am one of those mom and pop places sir, I have 2 trucks I drive 1 myself and my son drives the other. I work for about 5 people, 3 of them I have worked for 20 years. People on here assume alot. I didnt direct my opinion at you and you dont know me, or my family. I was part of the union years ago and you know what happened? We took and took and took and the company we worked for folded over night and the union couldnt do a dang thing about it, I was lucky to get half my pension and start my business.

I didnt mean to offend anyone, and my point was, I'm tired of helping people in this business and seeing them mess it up, its happened 25 times over the years just like your talking about, help a kid get a truck and he goes and loses it because he bought too much chrome and couldnt pay the bills hauling for nothing, and after what the union did to me, there is no way I'm going to put my faith or future in someone elses hands so they can benefit from my hard work. Maybe 20 or 30 years ago we could all get together and have done something? But America is Corporate, The big cattle feeders are getting bigger everyday, how many small feedlots do you see adding on? The big trucking companies are getting bigger as are the brokers. I appreciate this business because there are still people to work for that will pay me for a job well done. The service that I provide to my customers is different than the service the brokers and big companies provide. I dont want to compete with them, I cant offer customers what they can.

I dont appreciate your assumptions, My family and I have worked very hard and watched this business closely over the last 20 years and I believe its better now than it was then. I see more successful people now than in the past, and yes every day there are people coming and going and keeping the rates down but not all the rates are down and there is still a very good opportunity to be successful. I see more bad management than rate cutting being the issue for people failing out west anyway.
I'm sorry if you dont agree, but this is America and that is your right. At least I didnt accuse you or make assumptions like you did me.

Well I meant you no disrespect, I just dont like seeing people beat up on for tryin to help make things better for livestock haulers, and thats the way i took it, i shouldn't of made asumpsions without walkin a mile in your shoes. You cant begrudge them for tryin to help gets rate better for everyone one either, you never know where things may grow legs and catch fire. since easterns demise rates have gone up some. florida as an example how many loads out of there do you see posted on here, none to one or two once in awhile, that cause the buyers down there have regular dependable trucks they use, and they pay'em well and on time to keep'em. and on the other side they need to understand the rates are different one one part of the country than the other, and theres always gona be cut throats come and go like you said thats agiving, if you got good coustmers, or haulin just to help out in what ever sercumstaince do what it takes to leave a lasting impression, dont tryin rob them, treat there stockas if it was your children riding back there, word of mouth travels, and they may call on ya again.
