I HAVE HEARD SOME PEOPLE SAY COW HAULIN IS A WAY OF LIFE AND YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE GOOD WITH THE BAD, BUT MY BOOK KEEPER SAYS, THIS IS A LOSING PROPOSITION! I CAN HEAR YOU ALREADY SAYING "IF YOU DON'T LIKE WHAT YOU ARE DOING FIND SOMETHING ELSE TO DO" THAT'S ALL FINE AND GOOD BUT WHEN THAT'S ALL YOU KNOW HOW TO DO YOU HAVE TO MAKE IT WORK! I HAVE TRIED IT WITH A NEW TRUCK AND AN OLD TRUCK! NOTHING BETTER THAN GETTING LOADED JUST AFTER DARK FLIP ON YOUR LIGHTS AND HIT THE ROAD! THE PROBLEM WITH THIS INDUSTRY IS "WE REALLY DON'T KNOW THE COST" NOT JUST TALKING ABOUT PAYMENTS, TAGS ,INSURANCE,REPAIRS, TAXES AND THE UP KEEP ON YOUR TRUCK AND TRAILER. ALONG WITH ALL THAT COMES THE CHEAP LOADS, HIGH COST OF FUEL, THE BROKERS THAT EITHER WON'T PAY OR TAKE TOO LONG TO PAY! WE ARE ALL HAULING FOR THE SAME PAY $2.80-$3.25 PER MILE, THE COST IS TOO HIGH!! NOW LET'S FACTOR IN THE WEAR AND TEAR ON OUR BODIES, TIME LOST WITH OUR FAMILIES, NO RETIREMENT, WHO OUT THERE HAS A 401 K OR SOME KIND OF RETIREMENT OR MONEY STUCK BACK FOR SOMETHING BESIDES YOUR TRUCK OR TRAILER?? HOW LONG CAN YOU KEEP REFINANCING, PAYING INTEREST OR STEALING EQUITY FROM YOUR HOME? THAT IS ASSUMING YOU EVEN OWN A HOME?? NOW LET'S LOOK AT WHAT THE DOT IS FIXING TO DO TO YOUR DRIVING RECORD. THEY ARE GOING TO SHUT US DOWN!! IT'S COMING! IF YOU CONTINUE TO DRIVE FOR 3 DAYS BEFORE YOU DECIDE TO STOP AND SLEEP!! IT WILL CATCH UP WITH YOU!! Buddy, all I can say is the grass is never greener on the other side. Rates have been steadily going down for years, the swing to oil commodities on the up swing for the last year. (still not as high as 2-3 years ago) Trucks running higher CPM's and DOT getting tougher on cow trucks in general. There will always be more reasons to tip the scale in the side of better to jump out and quit now... But trust me brother, it's not gonna be any easier trying to start something new in todays world!!! Good luck and join the group of the we do it because know it and we are the go to guys.. What all the other elements forget is, without us they would be just mear vegetarians!!! |

I joined this site thinking that it would be a hepful tool and a good place to see what everyone else in our industry thinks and alls it has ended up beign is someone crying because they can't make any money or someone screwed them out of some money........alls i have to say is if the deal is not working look at other options you may only know the cattle hauling but hey life is all about rolling with the punches and learning new things |
