I wonder if people that sell livestock, (their product) would sell for what the buyer quoted them? Probably not. So why do they think I should have to sell them my product (livestock hauling), for what they want to pay me?

Its time the trucker starts running his own business! just think the lowly taxi cab driver has been doing it forever, when you get into his cab he tells you what the charges are,if you don't want to pay you get out .The sad point with some of the buyers and brokers they have gotten used to making money on both ends, you wil find dealing direct with the rancher themselves and certain buyers and brokers you will get a better deal.At one time in this industry they took into consideration the cost of doing business in the area you were operating in, as in the differance in fuel pricing across the states, hell I see them paying more per mile in the mid west where fuel is cheaper than they pay out west where fuel prices are always higher.Until we start running our own business things will not change!!!

All we have to do is say "NO". If they don't want to pay the rate you want let them figue out how to get them where they going !! If the broker are buyer can't deliver them to where they need to be they don't get paid !!! So sooner are later they will pay the rate ! So in conclusion STOP HAULING CHEAP !!

Independent truckers and some carriers are like Ladies of The Night , they just can't help themselves from performing that last easy cheap trick unlike a high class one that has a price and stands on it . I guess what I am trying to say is some are just Whores !!!

I'm sure all those who posted the previous statements are just steller truck drivers. However, the statements made reveal how little they know about agriculture. You haul cattle, hogs, sheep ... They all go into the commodity market which pays the bare minimum it can get away with. An agricultural saying for perhaps the last hundred years or more states, "The farmer (rancher) is a price taker, not a price maker." He is at the mercy of the market. The market will ALWAYS buy his product, but at the lowest possible price. That price, over time, is often a reflection of the average cost of producing the commodoty.

Before anyone goes running off at the mouth, they should first know what they are talking about. You are right though, You can say no and you should if you don't like the rate. If someone else takes the load they just might be more efficient than you. You can find a better paying load, haul something else or go do something else. As long as anyone deals in commodoties - producing or hauling - you will always be competeing with the guy who just might be more efficient than you. It is amazing how this topic keeps coming up. Some folks just don't learn quite as quick as others.

Feel that this is all this is good for is keeping the rate cheap. SO GUESS WHAT. Going to sign off this web site and they get no more money of mine. BET THEY WON'T POST THIS EITHER BECAUSE IT IS THE TRUTH. LIVESTOCK NETWORK I BID YOU FARWELL.

HAVE A HARD TIME TRYING TO KEEP UP WITH THE TRENDS.

TWO WEEKS AGO DIESEL PRICE IN MY AERA WAS $3.89 GAL. RATE WAS $3.90 FROM BROKER ON THIS BOARD.

TUESDAY THIS WEEK DIESEL PRICE MY AERA WAS $ 3.79 GAL . RATE WAS QUOTED FROM SAME BROKER THIS WEEK $3.25

I GUESS A BUNCH OF U GUYS GOT BETTER FUEL MILEAGE OUT OF THOSE PETES AND W9'S THIS WEEK.

PARK THE TRUCKS TILL U CAN AT LEAST GET FUEL PRICE AND THAT IS HAULING FOR CHEAP.
